NPSC

Case Study

The National Phenotypic Screening Centre (NPSC) is a world-class facility for phenotypic screening run by an interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers who collaborate to advance the use of complex biology and to drive innovation through the use of state-of-the-art robotics, instrumentation and computation at the Universities of Dundee, Oxford and Edinburgh.
Brief
Moriarti were asked to look at a suite of creative work starting with the corporate identity for NPSC. The screening service that NPSC offers is innovative and bleeding edge. The technology allows the discovery of medicines that have significant benefits to individuals and society as a whole, without the very real risk of failure during clinical trials. Real world diseases can be modelled, and treatments screened against them that result in more effective medication for patients.
It's an exciting an dynamic technology, and the corporate identity had to embody that concept. In addition to the corporate identity, signage and interior design, print and marketing collateral, a responsive website was required that would be updated in-house across the three campuses by different staff and scientists.
Solution
Moriarti created an exciting, dynamic corporate identity that took inspiration from the analytical phenotypic images that are produced by the technology. The technology allows individual genes and proteins to be targeted with a drug, and the corporate identity is a stylistic interpretation of the visualisations.
We also produced a responsive website that functions as a beacon for NPSC and showcases the cutting edge science that they are doing as well as have a  practical side with sections for assays, white papers and technical documents.
